Carrot Flowers
How to choose carrots for carving.
Carrots should be bright orange, thick and straight. They should have a fresh, unmarked skin. Where the leaves have been broken off it should still be a good green colour.
1. Cut three round slices from the end of a carrot.
2. Use a cookie cutter to press out a flower shape from the round slices of carrot.
3. There are various shapes of cookie cutters so you can easily make different flower shapes.
4. Cut a circular groove into the middle of a carrot.
5. Make more grooves radiating out from the circular groove around the carrot.
6. Alternately cut grooves from the middle of the carrot to the edge without the circular groove in the middle. The groves should match the pattern made by the cookie cuttter around the outside.
7. The finished carrot flowers. |
